In Baltimore, U.S. attorney general pledges to help police reform

BALTIMORE (Reuters) - New U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Tuesday met with Baltimore officials and the family of a 25-year-old black man killed by police last month and vowed to help the city pursue police reform.

The Cincinnati Reds announced last week that starting pitcher Homer Bailey would miss the rest of the 2015 season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Bailey, the author of two no hitters and veteran of 168 starts at the major league level, has experienced difficulties staying healthy in recent memory. In September 2014, Bailey had surgery on a tear in the flexor mass tendon of his right forearm. Besides the devastation of the ulnar collateral ligament injury which has become an epidemic throughout baseball in recent years, Bailey unfortunately becomes another case study in biomechanical research for orthopedic surgeons and researchers who are paying close attention to the proliferation of elbow injuries.
